La unión de la Fundación Alemana “Weltweite Initiative für soziales Engagement e.V” (Iniciativa global para compromiso social), y el CDCM (Centro de Desarrollo Cultural de Moravia), ofrece la posibilidad del trabajo voluntario en la comunidad a dos voluntarios cada año, desde el año 2016/17 los voluntarios vienen para una época de 13 meses.

La fundación que se localiza en la ciudad bonita Bad Elster, Alemania; tiene como objetivo enviar a más o menos 50 voluntarios alemanes a países diferentes del mundo: Bolivia, Argentina, Colombia y Sudáfrica durante 13 meses. Este año no deber ser sólo un año de voluntariado sino también un año de aprendizaje de relaciones globales y intercambio cultural.

El trabajo de la fundación está basado principalmente en el trabajo voluntario en los países anfitriones, como en Alemania de los voluntarios de las generaciones anteriores. Así la iniciativa global es un red de muchos jóvenes que quieren aprender y actuar globalmente de manera realmente ideológica.

Para poder realizar estos sueños, el BMZ, Ministerio Federal de Cooperación Económica y Desarrollo de Alemania, en 2008, ha creado el programa “Weltwärts”, es decir, “hacia el mundo” en español, para soportar de manera financiera y administrativa a todos los jóvenes que quieren trabajar voluntariamente durante un tiempo determinado.

Aproximadamente 3.500 jóvenes entre los 18 y 27 años, están haciendo voluntariado cada año. Más de 180 fundaciones en Alemania, entre ellas la Iniciativa mundial, forman parte de este programa. Según las normas generales del ministerio, como la duración, el aspecto social del trabajo y las condiciones financieras, estas fundaciones estructuran y realizan sus ideas del voluntariado. El programa recibe apoyo del estado, tres cuartos de los gastos están financiados por el estado, el resto se financia sobre donaciones que recolectan los voluntarios. Así es posible participar en la programa independientemente de los ingresos, opinión política o su religión.

A veces este programa también se ofrece al revés, así las personas de los países anfitriones pueden hacer un voluntariado en Alemania también.

Antes de llegar al país anfitrión todos los voluntarios reciben una preparación intensa obligatorias de las fundaciones, en las fundaciones incluyen las normas del programa “weltwärts” pero también pueden dar cuerpo a la preparación de manera más personal o más profundo en aspectos que eligen libremente.

La fundación Weltweite Initiative” realiza dos seminarios que duran en total más o menos 25 días.

Al final de mayo y viniendo de partes diferentes de Alemania, se reúnen todos los voluntarios de la nueva generación la primera vez en un seminario de 4 días, para para conocerse, la fundación y saber quién va a trabajar con quién. También reciben todas las informaciones de lo que tienen que hacer el los meses siguientes para poder realizar su año de voluntariado: recolectar donaciones para el fondo de la fundación, ir a varias citas médicas de vacunaciones etc., aprender la lengua del país, pedir la Visa y mucho más.

Un poco antes de la llegada, en Agosto, los jóvenes de la fundación “Weltweite Initiative” atienden al segundo seminario de preparación que dura 19 días. Está lleno de aprendizaje sobre aspectos globales como (des-)igualdad, racismo, sexismo y machismo, conciencia ambiental, pedagogía etc.. Discuten un montón de lo que han aprendido y más. También conocen mucho de la historia y aspectos culturales del país dónde van a vivir durante estos 13 meses.

Con una maleta llena de estos conocimientos nuevos y otras necesidades materiales, su Visa y con muchos nervios y curiosidad, al principio de septiembre van al aeropuerto para salir hacia Colombia, Argentina, Bolívia e África del Sur.

Moravia - Medellín, Colombia Centro de Desarrollo Cultural de Moravia (CDCM)

Las voluntarias trabajan en varias partes del Centro de Desarrollo cultural de Moravia. Una gran parte de este tiempo, la realizan con recreación a niños y niñas en los Nodos de Desarrollo, que son dos contenedores y son una extensión del CDCM en otro sector estratégico de Moravia, a estos talleres los llamamos “Nodos de Colores“. Allá hacemos actividades creativas, como pintura o manualidades. Otro aspecto del trabajo es la la participación de las voluntarias en los cursos artísticos y culturales del CDCM, en este caso brindamos cursos de inglés o alemán pero también había cursos de pintura o artes plásticas. Las voluntarias también tienen la oportunidad de participar en las reuniones de planeación y dar un vistazo profundo en el trabajo de la área comunitaria, ubicada en el Centro de Memoria Barrial del Centro Cultural.

Mi primer impresión de Moravia fue la de un pueblo en la mitad de la ciudad de Medellín. Cuándo entras, el aire está lleno de sonidos, de música o los anuncios de los vendedores de verduras. Las calles no siempre son derechas, según las casas, que fueron construyendo las mismas personas, el barrio se forma en su orden propio. Es un cambio total en la forma de los costumbres y la cultura para mi - pero en una forma buena! Estoy aprendiendo un montón: desde cómo rebajar precios (no es común en Alemania ;) ) hasta las diferencias en los acentos o que significa la verdad, cuando uno dice “nos vemos a las 9”. Yo tuve el placer de conocer a Gloria y Mamá Chila mi primera semana aquí. Aparte de la historia del barrio, que es bastante interesante, aprendí mucho sobre humanidad y la cordialidad. Me apoyan bastante en el proceso del voluntariado y en mi tiempo aquí. Aunque si tienen la culpa, si yo voy a engordar por todas las ricuras de la cocina de Mamá Chila. Estoy muy agradecida de la franqueza que yo he experimentado acá. Me hace querer quedarme en Moravia!

Cuando yo llegué la primera vez a Moravia estaba muy impresionada de toda la gente en las calles, los vendedores de aguacates y frutas y la música, pero también a veces no sabía dónde mirar, qué escuchar o cómo llegar al supermercado las primeras dos semanas. Pero con el tiempo, conociendo mejor al barrio, ganando memorias, ya me siento muy bien acá. Moravia se ha convertido en un lugar de trabajo, encontrarse con la familia anfitriona- vivir- para un año, es decir en una casa nueva, que espero que quedará para siempre.

The partnership between the German Foundation “Weltweite Initiative für soziales Engagement e.V.” (Global Initiative for Social Engagement) and the CDCM (Centre for Cultural Development in Moravia) offers the possibility of voluntary work in the community to two volunteers every year. Since 2016/17 the volunteers stay for a period of 13 months.

The association, located in the beautiful city of Bad Elster, Germany, aims to send about 50 German volunteers to different countries around the world: Bolivia, Argentina, Colombia and South Africa for 13 months. This year should not only be a year of volunteering but also a year of learning about global relations and cultural exchange.

The work of the association is mainly based on the voluntary work in the host countries, as in Germany on the work of volunteers from previous generations. Thus the Global Initiative is a network of many young people who want to learn and act globally in a real ideological way. In order to be able to realize these dreams, the BMZ, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, has created the programme “Weltwärts”, “towards the world” in English, to support financially and administratively all the young people who want to work as volunteers for a certain period of time. Approximately 3,500 young people between the ages of 18 and 27 are volunteering each year. More than 180 foundations in Germany, including the Global Initiative, are part of this programme. Page 2 According to the general requirements of the ministry, such as the duration, the social aspect of the work and the financial conditions, the associations structure and realize their ideas of the volunteering programme. The programme is supported by the government, three quarters of the expenses are financed by this ministry, the rest is funded by donations of the volunteers. Thus it is possible to participate in the programme regardlessly of income, political opinion or religion. Sometimes this programme is also offered the other way around, so that people from the host countries have the possibility to volunteer in Germany as well. Before arriving to the host country all volunteers receive an intense and obligatory preparation from the associations. They include the rules of the “weltwärts” programme but they can also give body to the preparation in a more personal or profound way on aspects they freely choose. The “Weltweite Initiative” organizes two seminars which last a total of about 25 days. At the end of May, all the volunteers of the new generation, coming from different places in Germany, meet for the first time in a 4-day seminar, to get to know each other, the association and to clarify who is going to work with who. They also receive all the information about what they have to do the following months to be able to do their voluntary year: collect donations for the foundation's fund, go to various vaccination appointments etc., learn the language of the host country, apply for a visa and much more. Shortly before their arrival in August, the adolescents of the association “Global Initiative” attend the second preparation seminar that lasts 19 days. It is full of learning about global aspects such as (dis-) equality, racism, sexism and machismo, environmental awareness, social pedagogy etc…. They discuss a lot about what they have learned and much more. The volunteers also get to know many aspects of the history and culture of the country where they are going to live for the next 13 month. With a suitcase full of these new insights and other material needs, their Visa and excited and curious, at the beginning of September, the volunteers go to the airport to leave for Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia and South Africa.

Moravia- Medellín, Colombia Centre of Cultural Development in Moravia (CDCM)

The two volunteers who stay in Moravia work in various parts of the “Centre of Cultural Development of Moravia”. Most of the time you can find them in the “Nodos de Desarrollo”, that means “Nodos of Development”, which is a space for creative recreation for children located in two yellow containers in another strategic sector of Moravia. The “Nodos” are an extension of the CDCM and are called “Nodos of Colours” in common use as well. In these containers they do creative activities like painting and handiwork or play parlour games or active games outside. As an other aspect of the work, the two adults participate in the cultural and artistic education that offers the Cultural Center, giving different classes in English and German but there had been courses in painting and visual arts as well. At last, the volunteers have the opportunity to participate in the planning meetings and gain a profound insight into the work of the Community Area that is located in the Centro de Memoria Barrial or the “center of Neighborhood Memory” in English. My first impression of Moravia was of a village in the middle of the city of Medellin. When you enter, the air is full of sounds, music or the advertisements of the vendors, who sell vegetables and fruits. The streets are not always straight, according to the houses, which were built by the same people, the neighborhood is formed in its own order. It is a total change in the form of customs and culture for me - but in a good way! I am learning a lot: from how to lower prices (not common in Germany ;) ) to the differences in accents or what is really ment, when one says “see you at 9 o clock”. I had the pleasure to meet Gloria and Mama Chila my first week here. Apart from the history of the neighborhood, which is quite interesting, I learned a lot about humanity and cordiality. They support me a lot in the process of volunteering and in my time here. Although if it's their fault, if I'm going to gain weight because of the food in Mama Chila's kitchen… I am very grateful for the openness I have experienced here. It makes me want to stay in Moravia!

When I first arrived at Moravia I was very impressed by all the people on the streets, the avocado and fruit vendors and the music, but also sometimes I didn't know what to look at, what to listen to. Or even how to get to the supermarket for the first two weeks because everything seemed completely new and different to me again every time I walked around the streets. But as time goes by, getting to know the neighborhood better, settling in and gaining memories, I feel very good in the borough. Moravia has become a place to live, work, visit the host family and friends for a year, and thus a new home, which I hope will remain forever.
